Japanese Boxwood

The Japanese Boxwood is a reliable broadleaf evergreen selection with beautiful and petite light green leaves. This is a classic choice for pruning into sharp-edged box hedges and topiaries. Left untrimmed, it has a naturally rounded growth habit and reaches 3-6 ft. tall and 3-6 ft. wide.

This variety is hardy from USDA Zones 6-9 (between -10 to 0°F) once fully established in your landscape.

It grows well in Full Sun to Partial Shade. Plant in average garden soil with good drainage. Water 2-3 times per week for the first growing season. Fertilize in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. These boxwoods are well-rooted in a 2.5 Qt. pot and tend to range from 7-12 in. tall.

                Plant Care

Plant with top soil or organic peat moss added to the hole. You can also mix in composted cow manure for soil enrichment.

How much trimming you do depends on how manicured you'd like to keep the plant. Since this little shrub grows slowly, you'll only need to trim occasionally - especially if you don't need a perfectly manicured look.

Regular watering works best but make sure there's enough time for the plant to dry out between waterings. If you don't have irrigation, hand water during dry spells.

                Spacing: Plant 24" apart
